Houlihan’s Restaurant, located on Pier 4 at the Power Plant on Pratt Street kicked off “Viva la Diva” Thursdays. VLD Thursdays feature giveaways of the “chi-chi” Bella II Fiore makeup kits featured in O and Cosmopolitan magazines and “flirty” drinks like the X-Rated Flirtini and the Brazilian Wax, the official cocktail of Fashion Week in New York.
“Our Viva la Diva promotion is our way of treating our female guests with a memorable ladies’ night experience that’s something a little different, a fun, chic evening they can look forward to every Thursday,” said Ed Flamard, Houlihan’s general manager. “We’re offering them a Sex in the City-esque place to relax, laugh and chat with their girl friends. It’s an excuse for them to make plans with the girls to enjoy some of our new delicious, creatively-prepared appetizers or other menu items to share with their friends, and to take in our energetic bar with indie music, flirtatious drinks and in general a night they won’t forget.”
The program includes $5 happy hour appetizers, a special play list of songs and four new signature cocktails: The Blueberry Martini, a mix of Stoli Blueberri vodka, blue curaco, pomegranate and Ocean Spray white cranberry juice; the Zentini, a blend of Zen Green Tea liqueur, Skyy vodka and Ocean Spray white cranberry juice; the X-Rated Flirtini, X-Rated Fusion liqueur, Domaine Ste. Michelle Cuvee Brut Champagne and the Brazilian Wax — a mix of Leblon Cachaca, Triple Sec and pineapple juice. I am SO amused by the name. I guess we’ve come a long way from Sex on the Beach. (:
Houlihan’s is known for its scratch-cooking and eclectic menu selection
Houlihan’s also pioneered the popular “mini” trend by being one of the first casual restaurants to offer a variety of fresh-made mini desserts, mini martinis served in flights of three and Mini Guinnies consisting of small-sized drinks made with Guinness Stout. It’s a Wrap: HonFest. OK, just a brief note about HonFest. This year’s HONderful event was expanded to two days and drew over 60,000 local, regional and national Hons. The big news this year? Spam Bowling was replaced by “Bowling with Ool,” Pompeian Olive Oil, that is. A special Bowling Alley was constructed so festival-goers could knock down olive ool (that’s Bawlmerese) bowling “pins.” HonFest founder Denise Whiting said, “Pompeian is a Baltimore company and that’s what we’re all about. And the guests were thrilled to win their top-of-the-line olive oil, balsamic and red wine vinegar. Dante Trassati (Pompeians National Accounts Manager) was an absolute Hon and we’re excited to work with them again next year.” For more info on other fab Pompeian products, check out Pompeian.com.
